Keith Yates Shares Nearly 30 Years Of Theater Design Experience At His Architectural Digest Home Design Show SeminarKeith Yates Of Auburn, CA hosts an educational seminar on his performance-based room design techniques, explains how to optimize a room for an immersive entertainment experience.
ELKHART, Indiana – With nearly 30 years of experience as a theater designer and consultant, Keith Yates has earned a reputation as one of the most creative and technically sophisticated theater designers in the world. He’s designed some of the world’s best known media rooms and concert halls, he has taught classes on psychoacoustics, and he has written dozens of magazine feature articles on how to optimize a media room’s immersive powers. Next week, at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, Yates will be hosting an educational seminar on how to design a room to achieve what he calls “Deep Entertainment.”
According to Yates, the willing suspension of belief - or “Deep Entertainment” - can be engineered into residential venues through a holistic approach to the various design disciplines and using advanced home theater technologies like the ones that will be on display at Harman’s Mobile Showroom. During his seminar, Yates will clarify the difference between a media room and a theater and why the distinctions are critical to a successful outcome.
“Keith’s seminar is a great opportunity for anyone who is designing home theaters – whether it be for a career or for personal pleasure - to learn the fundamentals of home theater design from one of the most experienced theater consultants in the world,” said Marc Kellom, vice president of marketing, Harman High Performance AV. “And what better place to do it than at Harman’s Mobile Showroom, where attendees will have the opportunity to enter our truck and experience a complete audiophile and home theater system, first hand.”
The seminar, which will be held on Thursday March 18th from 3-4 PM near Harman’s Mobile Showroom at Pier 94 near Manhattan’s West Side Highway, is titled, “Designing Home Entertainment Spaces Without Getting Your Wires Crossed.” Some of the topics that will be touched on include how to color a home theater room, seating arrangements, lighting, space requirements, and equipment.
